Is it all in the head? Yes!

Pain is controlled by the brain. Pain is a signal of injury to prevent further damage from being caused. Every day throughout our lives our bodies respond automatically to every event. When we knock ourselves a signal is sent from the place of the injury to our brain and the brain responds by sending the appropriate pain relieving and tissue repairing chemicals.

When the pain is, too severe and or prolonged, we need some outside stimulant to trigger our body's own mechanism. Bioelectromagnetic therapy is one such method. There are various devices (see product section) that use one or more methods of producing these signals.

The main constituents of static devices use copper, copper and zinc, and of course magnets. When copper is used on its own its role can be likened to a lightening conductor on the top of a church spire. When lightening strikes, the electricity is captured in the copper conductor and harmlessly dissipated. Similarly when used to help relieve pain on our body the copper will absorb the electrical signal which is travelling along our nervous and vascular system and therefore attenuate the pain. When copper is used in conjunction with zinc the function is additionally to create a signal like a battery.

On the 26th January 1781 the famous scientist Luigi Galvani demonstrated electromuscular stimulation. By placing a zinc and a copper wire in contact with the legs of a frog it produced contractions. This signal functions on the principles of acupuncture but without penetrating the skin. In acupuncture the electrical charge of a metal needle is used to stimulate various responses. Imagine an electrical circuit all around our body with a series of switches. Magnets also use the principle of acupuncture without needles. A magnet produces a signal which our brain responds to, and produces the pain relieving chemicals.

What else can I do?

Both alcohol and nicotine affect the vascular and nervous system. These are the very same channels of communication our body and brain use in dealing with pain. Reducing or eliminating the consumption of these two substances could be of benefit. Recent studies have however demonstrated that a moderate intake of alcohol is beneficial. Consider what is best for you.

Brain Power

In all therapies and treatments a positive attitude is beneficial. Patient with serious conditions such as cancer and aids respond better to treatment when they practice a method of mind control. There are various disciplines and many books have been written these will be the object of reviews in the future.

Effective products therapies and placebos

The placebo phenomenon occurs in every single trial ever carried out. It doe not disprove a product or therapy or diminishes the value of the results. The placebo effect is only evidence that within our body there is every function required to maintain our health throughout our lives no matter how adverse the conditions. When we are ill there is a dysfunction of those auto response mechanisms. Theoretically these functions can be restored with our minds (see section Brainpower) and some exceptional people succeed. Most of us need a little external help that will trigger our body's own mechanism back into action. Consider the following hypothetical situation. A new discovery is made to treat aids. Of 100 testers 8 using the product survive 10 years whilst 8 using the placebo also survive 10 years. Do we deny 8 % of aid sufferers the chance of life because another 8 have lived. Remedies must be tested for success and if we can use our mind to enhance the effect all the better. Remember our objective is to get better feel less pain enjoy life more.
