Magnetic therapy - just a Placebo effect?
Successful treatment on animals suggests otherwise .....

10 days after we had to euthanize our 12 year-old champion German Shepherd who had cancer and began to experience seizures, her lifelong companion, an 11 year old Beagle (He was my Best-In-Show winning champion and featured on the front cover of a Beagle book) was unable to stand on his hind legs, raise his tail to wag it in his usual greeting, and walked sideways with his head nearly dragging on the floor.

We immediately took him to the vet where they kept him for three or four days on IV's medication, etc. Although they could find nothing wrong with his spine from X-ray's, etc., they believed he had a damaged disk at the base of his neck. I believe he grieved himself into a stroke since he had not eaten well since his friend died and each time we came home he would run to the door through which he had last seen her taken, standing very still and watching intently for several minutes to see if she would reappear. Our hearts were breaking, not only because we missed "Lolita" so much but because "Chief" was so sad and now we faced the real possibility of losing our other beloved family member.

When the vet called and said she felt that any recovery would be better made at home, we picked Chief up and filled the prescription of steroids she wanted him to have to relieve any swelling that may be occuring in his spine. I am VERY skeptical of steroids and detest giving them to my dogs, as they always seem to cause more problems than they alleviate. But I was desperate and would try anything.

After a week or so with little or no improvement (we had to carry him outside and hold him up so he could eliminate his bowels and bladder) I decided to wean him off the steroids and just let him heal or decline. His belly was swollen and distended and he was generally more miserable from the steroids.

At some point during all of this, my migraine headaches were coming on like gangbusters and a friend loaned a magnetic necklace for me to wear. It really did work and my headaches were kept at bay and I was ecstatic about it.

About one week after Chief's final dose of steroids, he lay in the middle of the floor as he watched my husband, daughter and I trying to consume our meal and eat around the tears that were falling into our plates. Chief was so sick and miserable that we had just unanamously decided that the next day we should allow our vet to end his suffering. Our sorrow was beyond words. As we sat there I began to finger the magnetic necklace I was wearing and it suddenly dawned on me that if it could work for my headaches, then perhaps it could do something for Chief. I picked him up and put him in his kennel so he would remain still, thus keeping the necklace on, and wrapped it around his neck. I was skeptical but at least it was something and at that point would have tried anything to get our old boy back.

The next morning, I opened his crate door and OUT OF THE KENNEL WALKED CHIEF. He walked over to the sofa and hopped up onto it, curling up in his favorite spot! Not only that, he wagged his tail at me. It wasn't up but it was wagging! Remember, he had not walked, (except to drag his back feet and move sideways as if he were drunk) wagged, or stood on his own in nearly two weeks.

Well, the rest is history. I immediately ordered a magnetic collar for him. Each day he improved little by little and within a week he was back to the Beagle we knew and loved.

That was nearly three years ago and he never had another moments trouble with whatever had occured within his body. He was never without his magnetic collar and I believe it saved his life.

Sadly, Chief died from old age a few months ago and we miss him terribly. But, magnetic therapy gave us almost three more years of quality life with him and for that I am so grateful.

We recommended magnetic therapy to all of our dog breeder/show friends around the country and have many wonderful accounts of restored vim and vigor and loss of pain in dogs (and people) of various breeds, ages and sizes.

I highly recommend magnetic therapy to anyone who has any kind of pain or decreased activity due to injury or illness. I always tell them to try it because it certainly won't hurt and they may experience a miracle!!
